FAQ
General
It is recommended that you get your oil changed every three months or every 5,000 kilometres, whichever comes first.
Most manufacturers recommend around 100,000 km, but this varies from vehicle to vehicle and manufacturer to manufacturer.
With proper maintenance, your vehicle is less likely to break down, but it is unlikely that it will never break down.
There are many possible issues on a vehicle that can make it seem like there is a problem with the transmission, many of them are inexpensive to repair.

Brake Repairs and Servicing
At Garden City Tyre and Mechanical Toowoomba, we will repair and service all brake systemswith the latest equipment and technicians:*disc pad and drum liner replacement using high-quality Bendix brakeproducts*disc and drum brake machining in-house (we can remove bad scores and true up warped rotorsand drums*brake system fluid flush (a very important part of any brake system is to have your brake fluidchanged)
Brake fluid is possibly the single most neglected component of the automobile. Most high-performance drivers check their tire pressures and change their engine oil at frequent intervals, but virtually no one ever changes the brake fluid in their street car. The function of brake fluid is to provide an incompressible medium to transmit the driver’s foot pressure on the brake pedal through the master cylinder(s) to the callipers in order to clamp the friction material against the discs. The foot pressure is multiplied by the mechanical pedal ratio and the hydraulic ratio of the master cylinders, booster (if used) and calliper piston(s).
This is a simple concept. When fresh, all brake fluids are virtually incompressible and the system works as well as its mechanical and hydraulic design allows. There can be, however, significant problems in the proper functioning of brake fluid. Overheated brake fluid can (and will) boil in the calliper. Boiling produces gas bubbles within any boiling fluid. Gas is compressible so boiling brake fluid leads to a “soft” brake pedal with long travel. In extreme cases, overheated brake fluid necessitates “pumping the brake pedal” in order to get a pedal at all.
Regular Servicing
Yes absolutely, we recommend using a very powerful aerosol upper cylinder cleaner in The Three Bond Range which you spray into the intake of your engine to clean the throttle body. It will also aid with the prevention and removal of carbon deposits. Carbon build up inside your engine can cause significant loss of power, but if you keep it clean you will maintain it normal power output and fuel economy.
Yes absolutely, with modern diesel engine this is very important to prevent extensive carbon build up. The diesel version is pretty similar to the petrol version, but the diesel version has some different properties to combat carbon and sod build up inside the diesel engine. This product you also you spray into the intake of your engine to clean the throttle body and intake manifold. It will also aid with the prevention and removal of carbon deposits. Carbon and sod build up inside your modern diesel engine fitted with EGR can cause significant loss of power, but if you keep it clean you will maintain its normal power output and fuel economy. There is a lot of confusion about new car warranties and consumers rights under the Australian Consumer Laws (ACL). It’s important to remember that regardless of a warranty offered by a business you have automatic consumer guarantees under the ACL that apply to many products and services you buy regardless of any other warranties’ suppliers sell or give you.
A warranty is a voluntary promise offered by the person or business who sold the product or service to you. A warranty is in addition to any rights you have under the ACL.
A Manufacturer or Dealer warranty is a promise to the consumer that a vehicle will be free from defects for a certain period of time and that any defects will entitle the consumer to a repair or other compensation. These are offered in addition to your consumer guarantees.
No. You do not have to use a Dealer to service your car to protect your new car warranty or your consumer guarantees.
To protect your new car warranty a workshop needs to follow a set of guidelines when servicing your car. These include using quality spare parts from reputable suppliers plus lubricants and fluids that met manufacturer’s specifications. They must conduct the service in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and be carried out by staff trained, supervised and suitably qualified.
If you have a warrantable defect it may be a condition of the warranty that any work to rectify it is carried out at the Dealer workshop. Your independent mechanical workshop may also be able to guide you through this process.
Check your rights under the ACL and remember that often your consumer guarantees will last longer than a warranty issued by a manufacturer. If a warranty is declined solely on the basis that your car was not serviced by the Dealership or that “non-genuine” parts were used please contact the ACCC on 1300 302 502. Your independent mechanical workshop may also be able to guide you.
